Definition
The Market Hash Name is the canonical string Steam uses to identify a tradable item — for example, Sack of Gems or AK-47 | Redline (Field-Tested). It is the lookup key for prices, listings, and trade offers.
Format rules
- Includes quality and skin condition
- Spaces and parentheses are kept
- The Steam Market URL encodes it once:
Mann%20Co.%20Supply%20Crate%20Key
Why it matters
If the Market Hash Name does not match exactly, the price API returns a 404. SteamVaults stores the canonical name with each item so trades and quotes always match.
